Austin, TX: Backseat Soundtrack continues to grow their awesome collection of music with 2 new releases written and recorded remotely during quarantine in April 2020. The band is also finishing up their first studio record at Scary American Studios in east Austin, TX.
Release 1 – Morning Sun (Acoustic)
The band’s first major acoustic release, the acoustic version of “Morning Sun” was released June 7th, 2020. The song is a more folky version of one of the tracks featured on Backseat’s upcoming EP.
Given the quarantine conditions of Austin, TX in April 2020, the band opted to record parts and correspond remotely. The track was originally recorded as a submission for the 2020 NPR Tiny Desk contest, but the band was unable to finish before the deadline. The song has since been released on all major streaming and download platforms.

Release 2 – Little Things
“Little Things”, the bands 3rd single release of 2020, is due for release in July 2020. The song is inspired by the COVID-19 epidemic, as well as the Civil Rights protests resulting from the murder of George Floyd.
Scary American Studios
After a chance meeting with engineer/producer Charles Godfrey at an Austin brewery, the band decided to move forward with their first studio EP at Charles’ Scary American Studios. The studio is located within the Mosaic Sound Collective in east Austin, TX.
The session is currently in progress, and will featured 5 tracks, 3 of which have never been performed live. The EP will be completed in summer 2020 and is slated for release in late-2020/early-2021.
